Memories Of Our Thanksgiving Day 2012

Do you remember the doiley that I crocheted for our friend Kathy because she wanted to make a "one of a kind lampshade in the world'? Well, here's the final product! She starched the doiley and shaped it over a linen fabric. The round ball on top is actually a ping pong ball! It's an ingenious project and she's very good at it:

The day before Thanksgiving day, Kathy borrowed my two girls to help her do some decor crafting. I'm sure she could do it herself with no problem, but she choose to share some of the fun with the girls.

Here's a 'Give Thanks' banner they did with papers and hanged it onto the window curtain.

A lovely turkey bird by the entrance hallway greeted each one of us:) There were ten of us in total:) Great company of friends and we're all living away from home...so, we're actually each other's family in this country:)

Everyone got a personalized miniature turkey as part of the table setting. This one is made out of pinecone. A recycled shop catalog paper was folded into fan shape to form it's tail. We also had tiny decorative pumpkin to hold our namecard.... actually, some of us ended up sitting on someone's place even though there were namecards in place. The host ended up as me and I ended up as somebody else...OH! It's all good fun!

On that day, We ate till we couldn't move. Kathy cooked most of the food and she cooked a storm! Did you know that eating roast turkey could make one sleepy afterwards?? How true is that?! Well, a few tried to fight sleep with drinking caffeine to keep awake..for some, sleep won over!!  We also had so much fun with games, singing and laughter too! Yes, we had a lot to be thankful of indeed!

I should have photos of the food we had, but this photo above was the last photo which my little girl took before food arrived and then, we all got busy with eating. It's a memory to cherish:)

  2. Hi Annie,

Although it is not tradition for us here to celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia, I do feel very thankful for what I have at this moment.

What a great setting for a family occasion... Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
