The Cakes Are Playing

Dear Family & Friends,

It's been a dreary day with dark clouds, constant showers, and so we feel colder, matching the gloomy outlook. These days call for cakes and hot drinks to cheer us up...so off we went to visit the kitchen... and this is what we found!

This cake loaf developed some beauty spots.... got too close to the upper deck I suppose ;D

Causing his other cake loaf friend to crack up in a much BIGGER laughter!!

Ah naughty cakes...when can I get it right??  But they were delicious to accompany a cup of tea, despite their looks: )

My partner in the kitchen (aka my little girl), on the other hand, continued on honing her bake-a-cookie skill and she is getting fast in coming up with her goods too! ...but not as fast as we could eat them:)

We also did a teeny weeny sweet pie... and shared it for the teddy bear tea party...

Oppps, after clearing up the kitchen mess, I think this teeny weeny dining table & chairs need dusting!!...seriously!... and probably make a nice table cloth and chair cushions...in that order:)

So, its time to come back to the serious job that awaits us here! Till next time....

Yours,

Annie

  1. Hi Annie! Sounds like quality mother-daughter bonding time in the kitchen. I like such activities with the kids... Doesn't matter if what we bake or cook turn out nice or not.. Bonus if it does... as long as enjoy the process.

  3. I'm not into baking but they say cannot take out when it is too hot - let it cool in the oven first so it will not be all wrinkled or cracked. That's what I heard. Ya...as far as I am concerned, it does not matter as long as it tastes good.

  7. Hi Anne, your cake look good to me. The crack doesn't matter as long as it's delicious and your family enjoy it.

There are several reasons why the cake cracks, too much flour, oven too hot, cake pan too close to top of oven, over mixed, not enough liquid, etc...Practice make perfect, you will be able to bake a beautiful cake one day..... I too learn from trial and error..beginning lots donated to the bin too. :)

Your girl is good, very nice bake. Keep up the good job.
Love the mini dining table, cute.

    Have a nice week ahead,regards.
