Let's Make A Better World - The Homemaker

Dear Family & Friends

Today we are going to talk about the most difficult and most under appreciated work there is in our society - the homemaker aka housewife, stay at home mum or dad.

Is being a homemaker a job? DEFINITELY! This is one of the most difficult work in the whole world because here lies the state of the whole family: From the main bread winner, to every member within the family unit. Because of that, we shouldn't take for granted the role of  a homemaker in our financial life.

What is it like to be a homemaker? What are the challenges of a homemaker?

Being a Homemaker is a 24/7 job. Taking care and raising the children is a 48 hours job and is not measured by time alone - it's the value system. The homemaker is the children's mentor...their role model and it's a big thing. The children look up to them. Raising up children is not a joke. We need the values, communication ability, and love.

To those of you who are covering this role...well done! Keep up the good work. It is not always easy but you are not alone.

To those of you who are not so sure of what I'm talking about...it might not be agreeable to you for the moment, but at least know that a homemaker's job is a humbling experience and that they are the backbones of their secured family...that will form a safe community where we all live in.

This is one interesting and thought provoking discussion...not to provoke anyone by any means...but it's what I believe in... and here, I give my acknowledgement and salute to every homemakers.

Let's make a better world.

Yours

  1. I agree completely! I think the loss of a full-time homemaker in the family system is one of the main reasons society has the problems it does nowadays.
Over here in the States, it's sad to see the demise of good parenting and a good family life. Oddly enough, it almost seems as though a lot of these "mothers" have no motherly instincts anymore...and it's getting worse with each passing generation. I look back fondly at my childhood--my mother was home with us (as most were at that time). Now, kids come home to any empty house and seem to get into a lot of trouble with all that "alone" time. It's sad.............

    1. Sue, I'm so glad you see what I see...just imagining children coming home to an empty house brought me close to tears... I just couldn't do that to my own children and I feel terribly sorry that there are others who have to face life like this...they're only children for a very short time:(

  2. We need to appreciate homemakers. Most of our mothers were homemakers. We couldn't afford for me to be a full time homemaker. So I am a working wife & mother plus a homemaker at the same time. We couldn't afford a helper, so I have to try my best to be a working mom plus a homemaker as well. It was tough then but now I get to relax as my kids are grown up and I am retired.

    1. Nancy, my own mother had to go to work and we were left with the maids at home...perhaps, it was not a choice as there were a lot of us siblings! I was a discontented little girl, always crying, always needing attention...thus, I resolved it would not be so with my children. My husband and I agreed to live within our means, took our respective roles, and God took care of the rest and everything worked out for good:) You are a very strong woman to be able to comply all that you did during your time. I don't think I could do the same just as good...

  3. Annie, a big hug.. I'm on the same boat. When people ask why I'm taking up a job? They don't appreciate whatever I'm doing. I'm a mother, a housekeeper, a driver, a cook, a caregiver, a teacher, a mentor, all in all. Still some people think, as I'm staying at home I've nothing to do.. :(

    1. Krishna, all these very important jobs done daily but not measured and paid with monthly monies! We certainly deserve to do nothing from time to time...so don't forget to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, if you could today:) and enjoy the fact that your family is so blessed indeed:)
